Fake DUI attorney “Grandparent Scam” Leads to Four Arrests

A grand jury investigation into a so-called “Grandparent Scam” has led to four arrests. Spencer Compas, Witson Lavilette and Johanne Wesh have been charged with two counts of corrupt organizations and one count each of criminal conspiracy, identity theft and theft by deception. The warrant for Kens Wesh remains active, though authorities believe they know the general location of Wesh. Those arrested and charged so far have conned money out of elderly victims by posing as attorneys claiming to represent family members who have been arrested for DUI or related charges and requested large sums of money for lawyers’ fees and bail money.

If you find yourself in need of legal representation, for any reason, it is imperative that you retain the services of competent and legitimate attorneys. In a world full of uncertainty, you should never have to be concerned about the reliability or integrity of those you have retained to represent your interests.… Read More

Lawyer Argues Alcohol was not involved in Fatal Car Accident involving Teen

According to statements made by a trooper to the court, the lawyer for Ethan Kenny, a 19-year-old who being charged with DUI and homicide by vehicle, is arguing that the state has not proved its case that alcohol was involved in the crash that killed Catherine Healy back in June of 2012.  According to attorney Sam Davis “”It was an accident that, disregarding the alcohol, was horrible but could have happened the same way. That’s the difference between homicide by vehicle while DUI and just a straight homicide by vehicle,”

Davis added “No, I don’t think alcohol was a direct, proximate, substantial cause of this tragedy.”  Ethan Kenny was the driver in an automobile accident in which Healy was the passenger when the vehicle went off the road, hit a guard post, and struck a tree after going airborne.

Having a good attorney is often the difference between one charge and another, or between trial guilt or acquittal. … Read More

Teen to be Tried for Charge of Homicide by Vehicle in Death of Catherine Healy

Tracie HallEveryone makes mistakes and some of these mistakes end in tragedy. Many times, these mistakes were the result of a momentary lapse of judgment — something that would never happen again, under many circumstances. Yet when the mistake is driving under the influence, many want to punish the defendant to the fullest extent of the law, making the mistake of the moment something that is paid back with a life in prison. A good legal mind is needed to push back against that impulse, so the penalty fits the action.

A 19-year-old Fayette County man has been charged in the death of a 19-year-old woman who was a passenger in his car when he drove her home from a party. The charges include homicide by vehicle while DUI, accident involving personal injury or death, DUI, and other offenses.

According to police, the young man’s blood alcohol level was .117, which is more than five times the legal limit for someone under 21 years of age.… Read More

If you find yourself in a situation where you have made a mistake, done something you wish you hadn’t a second later, been arrested or if you have ever been falsely accused of a crime, you need to be fighting the moment you realize you are in trouble. However, criminal charges are not the type of thing you can fight alone; you need professionals to fight alongside you.… Read More

Nanny Charged with DUI After Employer Finds Her Drunk & Passed Out Near Crying Child

jakelieferVirtually everyone can agree that driving drunk is a bad idea. Where the arguments begin is in what should be done about it. What if someone got into a car after only one or two drinks and thought he or she was perfectly fine to drive, only for the police to say otherwise? What about the person who had a bad reaction to prescription drugs while driving? Many DUI cases do not justify the penalties against them, especially if no one was truly hurt.

A mother came home to find her 50-year-old nanny asleep, allegedly due to heavy drinking, next to her crying son, in Toms River, New Jersey. Shortly after leaving home, the nanny crashed her car.

The mother hired the nanny to watch her son and left him in her care at about 10 in the morning. She returned around 2:00 to find the nanny passed out on the floor while her son was crying.… Read More

Philadelphia Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Alleged DUI Driver

pweverA fair trial is at the foundation of the American justice system. Unfortunately, that can sometimes be more difficult to get when it comes to certain charges. Drunk driving charges often make the defendant feel as if they’ve lost before any legal proceedings even begin. That doesn’t have to be the case if the right attorney is there to represent the interests of the defendant.

Police are looking into a crash in which one person was killed in northeast Philadelphia. Drunk driving is the suspected cause.

A woman traveling down Academy Road at about three in the morning lost control of her car and rolled over the curb to hit a male pedestrian before finally running into a utility pole, knocking it over.

First responders declared the male pedestrian dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to be tested and medically evaluated by the authorities. It is likely DUI charges are pending.… Read More
