Man Charged with DUI Homicide in Teen’s Death

Terrible tragedies occur when someone intoxicated gets behind the wheel of a car and such drivers are relentlessly prosecuted. Many feel they deserve no real trial and attempt to railroad them through the system. Fortunately, everyone in this country is innocent until proven guilty, and deserves a good defense, no matter what the accusation.

Charges have been filed in Delaware County regarding a crash in Clifton Heights that caused the death of a popular teenager and caused serious injuries to his friend. A 45-year-old Lansdowne man was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide DUI, along with other charges, for a crash which occurred in January 12. An 18-year-old, a university freshman, was killed and another critically injured.

According to the Delaware County district attorney, the driver was tested for drugs and came up positive for significant amounts of marijuana. The district attorney is convinced the drugs were a direct cause of the fatal accident. Since the driver was intoxicated, he was unable to properly perceive the truck coming toward him and he collided with it. That truck hit the two young men walking on the sidewalk.

The Landowne man is now facing charges that have a 3 year mandatory minimum sentence of incarceration.
