The man who shot and killed four Marines and a Navy Sailor on July 16th can be seen in recently released video of his arrest after having driven under the influence of alcohol.
Authorities in Tennessee released the video last week of the arrest of Mohammed Abdulazeez after allegedly driving under the influence in April – just three months before launching his deadly attack on a military recruiting station in Chattanooga.
The dashcam video released by police shows Abdulazeez in his vehicle as he weaved in and out of traffic before he was stopped at approximately 2:10 a.m. on April 20th.
At the time of his arrest, police indicated that Abdulazeez smelled of both alcohol and marijuana.
Abdulazeez told officers that he had not been drinking and claimed that his poor driving was due to a lack of sleep.
No one should ever get behind the wheel and drive while under the influence of alcohol or any other substance or even when they are tired. While it is likely nothing could have prevented the tragedy in Chattanooga, around the country, law enforcement has gotten tougher on drunken drivers.
