Philadelphia Man Facing Charges from Hit-and-Run Accident

A man from Northeast Philadelphia is currently facing the charges of both drunk driving and aggravated assault in connection with a hit-and-run last month that left a SEPTA police officer in the hospital.

According a police spokesperson on Thursday, the man is identified as Jeffrey Soder, 34, of Holmesburg. Soder had allegedly been driving a Saturn sedan under the influence about 3:00 p.m. on May 22. He struck SEPTA Officer, Gary Miller, 44, as Miller was jogging at Rowland Avenue and Chippendale Street in Mayfair.
Miller hit the car’s windshield and bounced off into the street. He was critically injured and has had to undergo numerous surgeries since the incident. Soder was arrested in connection to the incident on Wednesday.
