Driver Pleads Guilty in DUI Crash in Las Vegas

Jail or PrisonAn accident is a terrible event for everyone involved. A mistake or some momentary lapse of judgment has resulted in something that could change, or ruin, lives forever. A good attorney is useful for more than just trying to defend oneself. Legal counsel can allow everyone involved to find a better resolution.

A young driver plead guilty to felony charges that may result in him spending 40 years in state prison. It was his 20th birthday on the day of his plea. He admitted to crashing his car through a Las Vegas restaurant and injuring 10 people during the lunch hour, while under the influence of various drugs, including synthetic spice, marijuana, and prescription drugs.

The driver pleaded guilty in Clark County District Court to two felony charges of driving under the influence causing substantial bodily harm in the crash which occurred in April 2013, just a few blocks from the Las Vegas Strip.

Four other felony charges were dropped as part of the plea deal which allowed the driver to avoid trial. The young man’s attorney has informed the media that his client will seek leniency to get a two to twenty year prison term when he is sentenced in July.

The young man and his 21-year-old passenger tried to run away, but were caught by restaurant patrons and passers-by. The passenger was unhurt in the crash and was not charged with a crime.
