A Democratic member of the Missouri state House has been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Jefferson City, the state’s capital city. According to police, Rep. Steve Hodges was arrested around 1:20 a.m. Thursday morning in Jefferson City. Hodges did not immediately return a telephone call Thursday from The Associated Press.

Hodges, of East Prairie southeast of Sikeston, was first elected to the House in 2006 from a southeastern Missouri district. He ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2012 against Republican Jason Smith. Term limits bar Hodges from seeking re-election to his Missouri House seat this year.
